Biography

Michael Bradshaw is a Professor at Warwick Business School, specializing in Global Energy Strategy and International Business. His academic background is in human geography, which he developed during his undergraduate studies at the University of Birmingham (BSc) and furthered with an MA from the University of Calgary and a PhD from the University of British Columbia. He works at the intersection of economic and political geography, business management, and international relations. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. His research interests include the geopolitical economy of global energy, focusing on the role of foreign investment in Russia's oil and gas industry, the dilemmas surrounding energy security, climate change, and economic globalization, as well as the challenges facing the UK's gas security. He currently leads the University’s Global Research Priority in Energy. His noteworthy publications include 'Global Energy Dilemmas' (2014), 'Global Energy: Issues, Potentials and Policy Implications' (2015), 'Energy and Society: Critical Perspectives' (2018), and 'Natural Gas' (2020, Polity Press). He is involved in the UK Energy Research Centre's monitoring of the UK shale gas landscape as part of a NERC/ESRC research program.
