Biography

Dr. Michael Breen is a Professor and Associate Chair of Clinical Integration and Operations at Dell Medical School, University of Texas, where he also serves as the Associate Program Director for the Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency and Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Fellowship. He has a rich educational background, having earned his M.D. from the University of Texas Medical Branch, and completed his residencies in Family Practice and Obstetrics & Gynecology at prestigious institutions including John Peter Smith Hospital and the University of Arizona. His research interests focus on the safety of robotic platforms in surgery, particularly for endometriosis resection and diagnostic techniques. Dr. Breen is actively involved in training with the dual-console robotic system and has shared his findings through scientific presentations concerning the improvement of upper-extremity mobility in impaired surgeons and the prevention of ocular injuries in robotic-assisted surgeries. He has contributed extensively to high-impact journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine and the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology. As a mentor, he has received numerous regional and national honors for his dedication to teaching medical students and residents at Dell Medical School. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys spending time with his family in Austin, engaging in outdoor activities like skiing, sailing on Lake Travis, and participating in marathon training.
