Biography

Michael Brereton is a fixed-term faculty member at Michigan State University’s Eli Broad Graduate School of Management, where he serves as Executive in Residence and teaches Marketing Strategy in the Master of Science in Marketing Research Program. He has a distinguished career in the marketing research industry, having recently retired from Maritz Research after twenty-seven years, including eleven years as President and CEO. Under his leadership, Maritz was recognized as one of the largest marketing research firms in the United States and internationally. Michael has significantly contributed to the academic and commercial advancement of marketing research, holding leadership roles such as Chairman of CASRO and founding Chair of the CASRO Institute for Research Quality. He is an Advisory Board member for several prominent Master’s programs in Marketing Research and Business Analytics. Additionally, he launched the Research Transformed Collaborative to bridge industry and academic leadership in the field.
