Michael Bridge is a musical maverick and a virtuoso performer of both the acoustic and digital accordion. His concerts are known for their energy and elegance, blending elements of stadium rock with the discipline of chamber music. Bridge has premiered over 60 new works and has performed in a variety of genres including classical, contemporary, jazz, and folk music. He received his Doctorate in accordion performance from the University of Toronto and was a Rebanks Fellow at the Glenn Gould School. Dr. Bridge’s career also includes mentoring young musicians and lecturing internationally on music business topics such as touring, production, negotiation, grants, finance, and cross-border activities for Canadians performing in the USA. His creative output with Dr. Kornel Wolak includes the popular shows like Bach Benny Goodman and Tangorium, which features an original tango-fusion composition. They also developed a Music Mentorship Program in collaboration with Queen’s University. His research and creative projects have been supported by various Canadian art councils and organizations.
