Dr. Michael Brook

Biography

Michael Adrian Brook is a Distinguished University Professor Emeritus in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at McMaster University. His research primarily focuses on the synthesis of silicone polymers and their real-world applications. Brook's current research interests include the development of sustainable silicone polymers, an effort acknowledged by his appointment as the Faculty of Science Chair in Sustainable Silicone Polymers from 2019 to 2024. With extensive expertise in organic chemical synthesis, organic chemistry, and green chemistry, he has made significant contributions to the fields of polymers and plastics. Prior to his current position, Brook obtained his Ph.D. from McGill University, where he was listed on the Dean's Honour List, and he holds an Honours B.Sc. from the University of Toronto. Additionally, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at ETH-Zürich.
