Biography

Michael E. Brown is the Richard Barbara Rosenberg Professor of Planetary Astronomy and the Terence D. Barr Leadership Chair at the Center for Comparative Planetary Evolution at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), where he has been influential in the field of planetary science. He obtained his A.B. from Princeton University in 1987, an M.A. from the University of California in 1990, and a Ph.D. in 1994. Brown's research interests primarily focus on planetary astronomy and the formation and evolution of the solar system, including studies of planetary interiors, surfaces, atmospheres, and dynamics. He has served in various academic roles at Caltech, progressing through the ranks from Assistant Professor to his current position as Professor and Director of the Caltech Center for Comparative Planetary Evolution.
