Biography

Michael G. Caty, MD, MMM, is the Robert Pritzker Professor of Surgery and the Chief of Pediatric Surgery at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. He is board certified in pediatric surgery with specific clinical interests in neonatal surgery, thoracic surgery, and pediatric surgical oncology. Dr. Caty has an extensive background in academic leadership, having served 17 years as a surgeon at Children’s Hospital Buffalo where he held the John E. Fisher Endowed Chair in Pediatric Surgery. He completed his general surgical training at the University of Michigan and a pediatric surgery residency at Children’s Hospital Boston, where he was also chief resident. Dr. Caty has been involved in numerous professional organizations, is a frequent contributor to pediatric surgical literature, and has numerous accolades, including recognition on the “Best Doctors in America” list multiple times. He earned his master’s degree in Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University in 2010. Dr. Caty is committed to improving pediatric surgical care and invests time in mentoring young surgeons, advocating for patients and their families, and enhancing the accessibility of surgical treatments for children.
