Biography

Michael Cavanagh is both a Coaching and Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of experience facilitating personal, group, and organizational change. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours – 1st class) in Psychology from the University of Sydney and a PhD Masters in Clinical Psychology from Macquarie University. His doctoral research explored the impact of cognitive behavioral patterns on health-related anxiety. Michael is currently the Deputy Director of the Coaching Psychology Unit at the University of Sydney, established in collaboration with Anthony Grant, which is regarded as a world leader in coaching psychology. His experience includes designing and facilitating training workshops in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. He has worked in various public and private enterprises and has coached individuals from all levels of management across diverse organizations. Michael consistently receives excellent feedback from students and workshop participants and has presented his research at numerous international conferences. He has published extensively in academic press and is a respected figure within the coaching community, having served as the National Convenor for the Australian Psychological Society's Interest Group on Coaching Psychology. Michael is the Co-ordinating Editor of the International Coaching Psychology Review and has contributed to the Handbook on Organizational Coaching.
