Biography

Dr. Choma is a physician-engineer with expertise in digital health, artificial intelligence, medical imaging, and biomedical optics. He serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Yale School of Medicine, where he teaches Clinical Decision-Making. He is involved in various clinical science efforts aimed at leveraging partnerships between academia and industry to create high-value clinical applications. Previously, Dr. Choma was a full-time faculty member at Yale and ran an NIH-funded biophotonics laboratory focused on developing optical coherence tomography technologies to study pulmonary and cardiovascular physiology. He has also worked on brain-computer interface projects at Meta. Dr. Choma earned both his MD and PhD from Duke University, underwent training in pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School.
