Biography

Michael Chopin leads an innovative research program investigating transcriptional programming in the immune system, particularly focusing on Dendritic Cells (DCs). After graduating from the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Germany, he joined the laboratory of Professor Stephen Nutt at the Walter Eliza Hall Institute as a postdoctoral fellow. His research employs state-of-the-art genomic technologies to make impactful discoveries regarding cell fate decisions, utilizing new conditional mouse mutagenesis models and novel cellular differentiation methods for DCs. In 2022, he established his independent research group at Monash University, concentrating on the molecular mechanisms underlying DC differentiation and function. His work aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in education and health.
