Biography

Professor at Monash University Malaysia, Michael Connors specializes in Political Science, holding a PhD from the University of Melbourne. He is the Foundation Director of the Graduate Research Office at Monash University Malaysia and has served in notable roles including Head of Department at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University and Director of Research. With a rich academic background, Connors has lectured at various institutions globally, including Thammasat University and La Trobe University. His research interests lie in Global Studies, focusing on political ideologies, political corruption, nationalism, and comparative political theory, particularly in Southeast Asia. Connors’s work often intersects with issues surrounding the UN Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing education and governance. He has contributed extensively to the field with numerous publications, served on editorial boards for academic journals, and has received awards for teaching excellence. Connors is currently interested in the local manifestations of global political events and ideas, particularly in relation to Thailand and Australia.
