Dr. Michael Costello

Biography

Michael Costello is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Women’s & Children’s Health at the University of New South Wales, specializing in gynecology and reproductive endocrinology. He has extensive training and qualifications, including MB BS, MMed, DipRANZCOG, and is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. His clinical interests focus on infertility and assisted conception, particularly in the context of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). He was a member of the ‘Therapy Infertility PCOS’ Guideline Development Group, contributing to the creation of evidence-based guidelines for the management of PCOS, which were endorsed by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) in 2011. Dr. Costello is actively involved in academia, teaching and supervising students in independent learning projects while maintaining a robust research agenda, having published numerous papers in scientific journals and contributed to book chapters. He is engaged with several professional organizations, including the Cochrane Menstrual Disorders & Subfertility Group and the PCOS Australian Alliance, where he plays significant roles in guideline development and research initiatives.
