Biography

Michael D'Emic joined the adjunct faculty of NYU Tandon in 2006 and became a full-time faculty member in 2014. He previously worked for thirty years in the financial sector, including seven years as Senior Vice President in charge of Finance at the American Stock Exchange and as an advisor to the International Monetary Fund, where he advised on accounting reform at the National Bank of Ukraine. His career began at Price Waterhouse & Co. in New York, leading to various pivotal roles including Vice President at Bankers Trust Company and Technical Expert at the IMF. D'Emic earned his PhD from University College Cork, National University of Ireland, as well as degrees in M.Litt. and M.B.A. from Trinity College, Dublin, and a B.S. from Georgetown University, where he graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He is the author of 'Justice Marketplace Early Modern Spain' and has contributed to several scholarly journals including 'Ethika Politika'. His research interests focus on the historical development of financial theory and financial mathematics.
