Biography

Prior to joining Southampton Law School, Michael served as an Alex Trebek Postdoctoral Fellow in AI Healthcare at the University of Ottawa and worked on the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)-funded ‘Machine MD’ project focused on health-related AI. His expertise pertains to issues leading his work on Health Canada’s External Reference Group Development Regulatory Requirements for Adaptive Machine Learning-Enabled Medical Devices. Throughout his career, Michael has held roles including a CIHR Banting Postdoctoral Fellow at McGill University's Faculty of Law and Institute for Health and Social Policy, and Visiting Assistant Professor at the Peter Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia, in addition to serving as a Foreign Law Clerk at the Supreme Court of Israel. He is a member of the New York Bar and has published extensively in the fields of law, philosophy, and bioethics, with articles featured in prestigious journals such as the Osgoode Hall Law Journal, Michigan Journal of International Law, Public Health Ethics, and others. He contributed an entry on ‘federalism’ for Philosophy Compass and co-edited a special issue of Bioethics.
