Biography

Michaël De Volder obtained his bachelor and master degrees in engineering from the University of Leuven. He subsequently started his PhD studies at the University of Leuven as part of the Tokyo Institute of Technology. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Michigan, Harvard University, and the University of Leuven. He has extensive experience with imec, an industry-funded microelectronics research institute, and joined the Institute of Manufacturing at the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on the fabrication of structures and assemblies of new carbon nanomaterials including carbon nanotubes and graphene, addressing the challenges in processing and manufacturing these materials for various applications including energy storage and water filtration systems.
