Dr. Michael Di Francesco

Biography

Michael Di Francesco is an Associate Professor in the Policy & Governance Program at the Crawford School of Public Policy, specializing in public administration. He serves as the Director of Education and the Academic Director of the Crawford School Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Program. Previously, he held the position of Associate Professor of Public Sector Management and Director of the Case Program at the Australia New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG) at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). His academic journey includes appointments at the University of Melbourne, University of Sydney, and Victoria University of Wellington. Michael's research focuses on Australian public administration, public budgeting, public financial management, rule frameworks in public organizations, and public management policy. He has published in respected journals such as Public Management Review and the Australian Journal of Public Administration. In addition, he has significant experience in the public sector, having served as Assistant Secretary of Public Sector Reform in the Australian Department of Finance and as Principal Advisor at NSW Treasury. He has consulted for international organizations like the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Michael holds a Bachelor of Economics with Honours from the University of Sydney and a Ph.D. in Public Policy from the Australian National University.
