Biography

Michael Dodd is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Washington. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology (2001), an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the same institution (2003), and a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (2008). He also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Environmental Engineering Program at Yale University (2008-2009). His research interests lie in the characterization of homogeneous and heterogeneous redox reactions in engineered and natural aquatic systems, particularly focusing on optimizing pollutant and pathogen elimination in water and wastewater treatment. He actively mentors new Ph.D. and Master's students in these research areas and is involved in studying the influence of chemical redox processes on estuarine and freshwater systems affected by human activities.
