Biography

Michael studied Classics (BA) and Theology (BA, MSt) at the University of Oxford, followed by a PhD in Theology from Cambridge. He has worked on the textual characteristics of early Greek manuscripts that include the whole Bible, which relates to a larger interest in the emergence of the Biblical canon as evidenced by Biblical manuscripts. Michael has published numerous articles on textual criticism and Pauline theology. He also has an academic interest in the seventeenth-century German priest Bartholomaeus Holzhauser, whose work he has edited. Michael has taught Classical and Koine Greek as well as New Testament Studies at Oxford and Cambridge Universities and has experience teaching Latin in secondary schools. Currently, he teaches Homiletics and Biblical Studies to students at Ripon College, which is accredited by Durham University, where he is also responsible for organizing occasional lectures and developing the college’s programs for students funded by the Church of England. Michael has been active in church ministry for several years.
