Biography

Michael Ellis is an assistant professor in the neurosurgery section within the Department of Surgery at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. He serves as the medical director of the Pan Concussion Program, a provincial initiative that offers multi-disciplinary care for pediatric concussion and traumatic brain injury patients across Manitoba and central Nunavut. His research focuses on employing telemedicine to enhance access to specialized concussion care for patients residing in rural, remote, and isolated areas of Canada. Additionally, he investigates the epidemiology, clinical assessment, and management of intimate partner violence and traumatic brain injuries. Michael has extensive clinical training with a Medical Doctorate from the University of Manitoba and completed a Clinical Research Fellowship in sports-related concussion at the University of Toronto. He is involved in various research affiliations and groups, including the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba and the Canadian Concussion Network, among others, and he welcomes graduate students to his research initiatives.
