Biography

Michael Fischereder is a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and Nephrology, currently serving as a Professor of Internal Medicine at LMU Klinikum Munich, where he leads the Division of Nephrology and the interdisciplinary TSC Centre for clinical research. After graduating from Ludwig-Maximilians University Medical School in 1988, he completed his clinical training at BG Unfallklinik Murnau and University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics. He obtained his American Board Certification in Internal Medicine in 1993 and continued his education, earning certifications in Internal Medicine and Nephrology by 1999. Fischereder has a solid background in clinical nephrology and transplant nephrology, focusing his research on renal transplant dysfunction and sodium handling. Over the years, he has contributed significantly to the field through both teaching and research, supervising numerous MD students and participating in various interventional trials. He returned to Ludwig-Maximilians University in 2003 after serving as an attending nephrologist at Universitätsklinikum Regensburg, and in 2012, he became the chief of Nephrology at LMU-Klinikum Munich.
