Biography

Michael Fishman is the Norman Strunk Professor of Financial Institutions at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. He serves as the Faculty Director of the PhD Program and has held various administrative roles including Senior Associate Dean for Curriculum & Teaching and Senior Associate Dean for Faculty & Research. His extensive research focuses on financial market regulation, contracting, insider trading, and the role of self-regulatory organizations. He has published widely in finance and economics and co-edited 'Primer on Securitization' (MIT Press, 1996). Fishman has received numerous awards including the Smith Breeden Prize from the American Finance Association and has been recognized multiple times for his outstanding teaching. His academic career began at Kellogg, where he advanced from Assistant Professor to Professor since joining in 1985. He earned his PhD and master's degrees in Economics from the University of Chicago and his bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
