Michael Fogler is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of California, San Diego. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1997. His research revolves around the theory of interacting electrons in low-dimensional nanoscale structures, with early work focusing on the two-dimensional electron gas and the quantum Hall effect under conditions of interaction and disorder phenomena in nanowires. In 2008, he concentrated on the physics of graphene and other two-dimensional crystals, exploring their electronic, excitonic, nanomechanic, and plasmonic properties. He studies excitons in semiconductor quantum wells and collaborates with a large number of experimentalists at UCSD.
