Biography

Michael Fox is an Associate Professor and Department Chair in the Department of English and Writing Studies at Western University. He completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge in 1997, following a Master of Arts from the University of Manitoba in 1994. He has also attained a Diploma with Honours from the University of Western Ontario in 1992 and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Windsor in 1988. His research interests encompass the fields of rhetoric, professional communication, and the history of the English language. Fox has a particular focus on narratology and creative writing. He draws inspiration from the works of Russell Hoban, exploring medieval Latin, Old English, Old Norse, and modern languages to understand the human essence reflected in language. Fox is dedicated to distilling the intricate relationship between words and stories, which fuels his teaching and research endeavors. He teaches a range of courses including Introduction to Professional Writing, Technical Writing, Technical Editing, and Advanced Professional Communication.
