Biography

Michael J. Gandal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on understanding the genetic mechanisms contributing to neurodevelopmental psychiatric disorders through the integration of computational biology and functional genomics. As Principal Investigator at the Lifespan Brain Institute, he leads investigations into various conditions, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and schizophrenia. His post-doctoral work was at the UCLA-Semel Institute, where he specialized in neurogenetics and psychiatric residency.
