Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Michael Gantier. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Professor Gantier is a research group leader at the Hudson Institute of Medical Research in Melbourne, Australia. His core research aims to define how nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) modulate immune responses, leveraging this knowledge to develop novel therapies for cancer and auto-inflammation. Over the past decade, his work has significantly advanced the understanding of Toll-Like Receptors 7 and 8 in sensing RNAs and the cGAS-STING pathway in detecting damaged DNA. His laboratory is currently focused on the generation of TLR7/8 agonists and inhibitors to improve mRNA-based vaccinations, as well as developing cGAS/STING inhibitors for treating auto-inflammatory disorders such as lupus and hyper-inflammatory conditions. Additionally, Professor Gantier has made crucial findings regarding endogenously produced small RNAs, known as microRNAs, which persist in cells and regulate inflammation. He has led the identification of microRNA sequence variations that control microRNA stability and can be utilized as novel disease biomarkers.
