Biography

Michael Gardiner specializes in twentieth-century cultural history and cultural theory. His research interests encompass various themes, including post-British England literature, London hauntology, and the British imperial narrative reflected in contemporary writing. He has contributed significantly to the academic community through Ph.D. supervision, focusing on topics such as the neo-Victorian manga and early twentieth-century Japanese-Indian responses to the British Empire. Gardiner's teaching includes courses like 'Problems in Philosophy' and 'Literature,' for which he also serves as a co-convenor. He oversees the MA module in Critical Cultural Theory as well as the BA Dissertation and Personal Research Project, ensuring that students engage deeply with complex cultural contexts and narratives.
