Michael E. Gehm is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Professor of Physics at Duke University. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis in 1992, and later earned his A.M. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from Duke University in 1998 and 2003, respectively. He served as a Research Associate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke from 2003 to 2005, before becoming an Assistant Research Professor. In 2007, Gehm transitioned to the University of Arizona as an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and was also appointed as an Assistant Professor of Optical Sciences in 2009. He returned to Duke University in 2013 as an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and was promoted to Professor in 2022. His research interests include computational compressive sensing measurement modalities with a focus on Electromagnetic/Optical RF x-ray forms and Mass spectrometry, alongside interests in optical physics, high-performance x-ray simulation, and rapid-prototyping of advanced electromagnetic structures. Gehm has been recognized as a Fellow of Optica and SPIE for his contributions to the field.
