Michael Geruso is a nationally recognized authority on health insurance markets and global demography. In 2023-2024, he took a leave from the University of Texas at Austin to serve in the Biden/Harris Administration as a Senior Economist at the Council of Economic Advisers, advising on healthcare and population change issues. His work has been published in top peer-reviewed outlets, including the American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, and Demography, and has been featured in popular media outlets such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, NPR, Vox, The Atlantic, and The Economist. He completed his postdoctoral work at Harvard prior to joining the faculty at the University of Texas at Austin in 2014.
