Biography

Michael Glinka is a Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh in the field of Pathology. His current work focuses on immunohistochemical single-cell RNA-sequencing analysis of ileocolonic tissue from healthy Crohn’s Disease patients. He is particularly interested in the analysis of cell populations responsible for the fibrotic stenosing lesions associated with Crohn’s Disease. His project is funded by the Helmsley Charitable Trust and is part of the Human Cell Atlas initiative, specifically the ‘Gut Cell Atlas’ project. In addition to his research, he has experience in investigating the utilization of natural and synthetic materials in targeting stem cell fate for skeletal repair during his Ph.D., which he pursued under the supervision of Prof. Richard Oreffo and Prof. Mark Bradley. Michael collaborates with experts such as Dr. Shahida Din, Prof. Richard Baldock, and others in his research endeavors.
