Biography

Professor Michael Grimm is the Clinical Associate Dean and Head of the St George Sutherland Clinical School at UNSW Medicine. His research focuses on the immunopathogenesis of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) and the development of novel therapeutic strategies for treating these conditions. He has a strong interest in mucosal immunity, particularly lymphocyte trafficking and the regulatory mechanisms that control gastrointestinal immunity. His work also explores the role of the appendix in gut immunity related to IBD, along with clinical, psychological, and physiological factors that may predict IBD relapse.
