Dr. Michael Hall

Biography

Michael Hall is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Texas A&M University. His research focuses on Bioinorganic Catalysis, Energy, Inorganic Chemistry, Organometallic Chemistry, and Theoretical & Computational methods. Hall's research group investigates crucial chemical problems, particularly in the areas of C-H bond activation and the behavior of transition metal complexes. His work on methane as a valuable resource seeks to enhance the conversion of hydrocarbons into more useful substances like ethylene. He has made significant contributions to the understanding of C-H activation rates and the development of transition metal polyhydride complexes. Recent studies in his lab have delved into the dynamics of oxygen transfer and the stability of transition metal carbon clusters, discussing their implications for energy storage and water splitting reactions. Hall's extensive educational background includes a B.S. from Juniata College and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has held prestigious fellowships and positions, including an AEI Research Fellowship at the University of Manchester and a Research Associate role at the University of Wisconsin.
