Dr. Michael Harte

Biography

Michael Harte is a distinguished researcher in neuropharmacology, with over 20 years of extensive experience in the field. He graduated with a BSc in Physiology from University College Dublin in 1999 and later earned his PhD in Neuropharmacology from the same institution in 2003. Michael has contributed to the understanding of neurochemical and pathological deficits related to cognitive dysfunction, particularly in animal models of schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease. After completing post-doctoral research at the University of Sheffield and Queens University Belfast, he became a Lecturer at the University of Bradford in 2008 and later moved to the University of Manchester in 2013, where he was appointed as a Professor in Neuropsychopharmacology in 2022. His research focuses on the utilization of preclinical models to investigate the neural circuitry and neurochemistry involved in the etiology and treatment of neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. Michael is also involved in the assessment of novel treatments for behavioral and pathological deficits in preclinical models.
