He also co-leads the modern-jazz quartet Peripheral Vision, noted for recording five albums and maintaining a busy touring schedule, and received the Galaxie Rising Star Award at the Montreal Jazz Festival. One of his works, Michael Herring's Vertigo, features contributions from acclaimed New York saxophonist David Binney and was highlighted as one of Jazz New York’s Top 5 debut albums in 2006. Herring has shared the stage with numerous notable musicians and was awarded the Chalmers Arts Fellowship by the Ontario Arts Council, which allowed him an extended stay in New York City.
