Michael Hill is a Professor in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Calgary and the Director of the Stroke Unit at the Calgary Stroke Program. He completed his undergraduate training in biochemistry at McGill University, followed by medical school at the University of Ottawa. He trained in internal medicine at the University of Ottawa and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine in 1997. Dr. Hill relocated to Calgary to undertake a stroke fellowship and clinical epidemiology training at the University of Calgary, and has been a faculty member since 2001. He completed his MSc thesis in 2003 and currently oversees clinical trials related to stroke thrombolysis and stroke epidemiology. His research has been funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and he holds a professorship from the Heart & Stroke Foundation for his work in stroke research. Dr. Hill has received several awards, including the Barnett and Pessin Award for his significant contributions to research and his outstanding publication record.
