Biography

Michael J. Hiscox is the Clarence Dillon Professor of International Affairs at Harvard University, where he is a faculty member in the Department of Government. He is the founding Director of the Sustainability, Transparency, Accountability Research (STAR) Lab and also a faculty associate at the Institute for Quantitative Social Science and the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. Hiscox previously served as the founding Director of the Behavioural Economics Team (BETA) at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in the Australian Government, where he continues to serve as an advisor. His research interests focus on the integration of behavioral economics into the design of public policies and private sector sustainability initiatives, addressing various social and environmental issues. His academic interests encompass a range of subjects within international relations, including climate change, education policy, environmental policy, and political economy, among others. Hiscox employs various research methods, including experiments, formal theory, and quantitative methods, to study diverse geographic regions such as Africa, Asia, Europe, and the United States.
