Michael Holleran joined the School of Architecture faculty at the University of Texas at Austin in fall 2006. He previously came from the University of Colorado, where he served as Associate Dean for Research and was an Associate Professor of Planning and Design, as well as Director of the Colorado Center for Preservation Research. His academic teaching experience includes positions at the Rhode Island School of Design, focusing on Architecture and Landscape Architecture. Holleran is currently working on a book that explores irrigation canals in urban landscapes within the American West. He completed a statewide historic context report for canals and ditches for the Colorado State Historic Preservation Office, which contributed to the nomination of multiple properties to the National Register of Historic Places. His research interests lie in the fields of historic preservation, urban development, and the history of water management.
