Michael Johnston received his BSc and PhD from the University of New South Wales in Australia and completed a postdoctoral position at the University of Cambridge's Cavendish Laboratory. He joined the faculty of the University of Oxford's Department of Physics in 2002. He currently leads a research group specializing in semiconductor physics, photovoltaics, and terahertz photonics.
