Biography

Professor Michael Kidd AO FAHMS is an Australian academic, primary care researcher, and educator clinician. He holds a joint appointment as the inaugural Director of the International Centre for Future Health Systems at the University of New South Wales and serves as a Professor of Global Primary Care at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford. Professor Kidd has held various significant positions, including being a member of the board for the George Institute for Global Health and Telstra Health, as well as chairing the Therapeutic Guidelines Foundation. He was a member of the Australian Government's Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) from 2020 to 2023, and he previously served as the Principal Medical Advisor and Deputy Chief Medical Officer for the Australian Government's Department of Health. Notably, he is a foundation Professor of Primary Care Reform at the Australian National University and has held honorary professorships at the University of Melbourne and Flinders University, among others. His expertise includes global health, primary health care, digital health, mental health, and health policy. He has made significant contributions to education in health professions and has been recognized for his service in medicine and education with honors from the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
