Biography

Michael King is a Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University. He holds the LeSuer Chair in Reservoir Management and is also affiliated with the Multidisciplinary Engineering program. Dr. King earned his Ph.D. in Physics from Syracuse University in 1980, following a Master’s degree in the same field from Syracuse in 1977 and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics Mathematics from Cooper Union in 1976, graduating summa cum laude. His research largely focuses on advanced topics in petroleum engineering, including 3D reservoir modeling, characterization, pressure rate transient analysis, and unconventional reservoirs. He also specializes in upscaling geologic models and flow simulation, particularly streamline-based simulation and flow analysis. Dr. King has been recognized as a Distinguished Member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers since 2013 and has received multiple accolades for his contributions to engineering education and research. He has been actively involved in various professional societies and has contributed to numerous publications in his field.
