Dr. Michael Knauer

Biography

Michael Knauer is an Assistant Professor and Clinical Biochemist at Western University. He holds a PhD from the University of Western Ontario and a diploma in Clinical Chemistry from the University of Toronto. His clinical activities involve leading the Core Laboratories and Point of Care Testing at London’s teaching hospital sites. He is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality laboratory results, overseeing quality assurance of laboratory methods, and developing new tests and equipment in line with clinical needs. His research focuses on clinically-oriented collaborative efforts in therapeutic drug monitoring, establishing verification and harmonization of reference intervals, and continuous improvement of Point of Care Testing systems, with an emphasis on laboratory test utilization. Michael actively contributes to the advancement of laboratory medicine through scientific leadership and consultant roles to physicians and laboratory staff.
