Biography

Michael Kozal is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Stanford University. He previously served as the Senior Associate Dean for Veteran Affairs at Stanford School of Medicine and as Chief of Staff at VA Palo Alto Health Care System. Prior to joining Stanford, he was a Professor of Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine where he also held the position of Associate Dean for Veteran Affairs. Dr. Kozal's research focuses on HIV and hepatitis C, particularly studying genetic determinants of drug resistance and the development of new molecular methods for detecting viral mutations. With over 20 years of experience in clinical trials and as a principal investigator, he has contributed significantly to over 40 clinical trials. Dr. Kozal is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases and has completed multiple fellowships and residencies throughout his career.
