Biography

Michael Kroth is a distinguished professor of bassoon and serves as the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies at Michigan State University College of Music. He has been a member of the MSU faculty since 2002, contributing significantly to the artistic and educational mission of the College. In his role as Associate Dean, Kroth provides strategic oversight for undergraduate programs and is involved in admissions, student success initiatives, and academic operations. Kroth has a longstanding involvement with the Colorado College Summer Music Festival and has performed in various international venues. He is a dedicated educator, having built a nationally recognized bassoon studio at MSU, with many of his students achieving successful careers in academia and professional music. His contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the William J. Beal Outstanding Faculty Award in 2022.
