Biography

Michael J. Leamy is a Woodruff Professor and Director of Graduate Studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology's George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering. He joined Georgia Tech in 2007 as an Assistant Professor and has since held various positions in academia and research. Prior to his current role, he served as a Research Scientist at the Emerging Technology Office of MITRE Corporation, and held teaching positions at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Dr. Leamy completed his postdoctoral fellowship at Technion, Israel's Institute of Technology, and held a research associate position at NASA Langley Research Center. His research focuses on Acoustics, Dynamics, Mechanics, and Materials, with a strong emphasis on computational nonlinear dynamics and multiscale modeling. He specializes in the simulation of nonlinear dynamical behaviors in structures and materials. Dr. Leamy's work includes developing analytical and computational models that capture linear and nonlinear responses across macro- and nano-scales. His research is widely supported by industry and government entities, including Ford Motor Corporation, National Science Foundation, and Department of Energy.
