Biography

Michael Lerner, MD, is an Associate Professor of Surgery specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of laryngeal disease. He serves as the Director of the Voice Center and is the Chief of Otolaryngology at Greenwich Hospital. Dr. Lerner's clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis and management of vocal cord pathologies often associated with professional voice use, including neurological voice disorders, vocal fold paralysis, and spasmodic dysphonia. He employs a multidisciplinary approach alongside highly-trained speech-language pathologists and utilizes advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques. Dr. Lerner graduated summa cum laude from Brandeis University and earned his MD from Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital and a fellowship in laryngology and neurolaryngology at the New York Center for Voice and Swallowing Disorders. His research interests include laryngeal neurophysiology, vocal cord dysfunction, and retrograde cricopharyngeus dysfunction.
