Biography

Michael C. Levin, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Saskatchewan and the inaugural Saskatchewan Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Research Chair. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with special honors from George Washington University and his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University. Levin completed his basic neuroscience training at the Salk Institute and completed residency training in Neurology at New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He also completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Neuroimmunology Branch of the National Institutes of Health. Before joining the University of Saskatchewan, he was a faculty member at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, where he served as the Chief of Neurology Service at the Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. His research focus includes Multiple Sclerosis, RNA binding proteins, and neuroimmunology, and he has received numerous awards for his academic excellence from organizations such as the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the American Academy of Neurology. Levin's work has led to significant discoveries, including identifying novel drugs that promote nerve cell regeneration and prevent disability in people living with Multiple Sclerosis.
