Biography

Michael Levine is an Associate Professor in the Department of Statistics at Purdue University. He received his Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from Riga Technical University in 1994. He furthered his education with a Master of Science in Mathematical Statistics from the same institution in 1996, and later earned a Master of Arts in Statistics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2000. He completed his Ph.D. in Statistics at the University of Pennsylvania in 2003. His research interests primarily include Latent Variable Models, Machine Learning, particularly clustering and classification algorithms, as well as non-semi-parametric function estimation. In addition, his work touches upon applications in statistics, medicine, and healthcare. Levine has received numerous awards, including the Regina Norman F. Carroll Research Award and has served as an Associate Editor for several esteemed journals in his field. He is actively involved in the education of Ph.D. students and has held various notable positions within professional organizations such as the American Statistical Association.
