Biography

Michael Lipson studies international organizations with a focus on international security. His research employs international relations theory and organization theory to analyze international institutions' contributions to the maintenance of international peace and security. His current research addresses organizational dynamics in international peace operations, particularly the concept of 'organized hypocrisy' in global governance. Lipson's research interests also include nonproliferation, arms control, disarmament, technology in world politics, and U.S. foreign policy. His work has received funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Société et culture.
