Dr. Michael Mann

Biography

Michael Mann is the Presidential Distinguished Professor and Director of the Penn Center for Science, Sustainability, and the Media at the University of Pennsylvania. His research specializes in climate science and climate change. Mann has been recognized as one of the fifty leading visionaries in science and technology by Scientific American in 2002 and was awarded the Hans Oeschger Medal by the European Geophysical Union in 2012. He was listed as one of the fifty influential people by Bloomberg News in 2013 and has received several prestigious awards, including the Friend of the Planet Award from the National Center for Science Education and the Stephen H. Schneider Award for Outstanding Climate Science Communication. He has also been honored with the Climate Communication Prize from the American Geophysical Union and the Leo Szilard Award from the American Physical Society. In 2019, Mann received the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement and was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2020. He is a fellow of several scientific organizations and is a co-founder of RealClimate.org, with over 200 peer-reviewed publications and multiple books including 'Dire Predictions' and 'The New Climate War.'
