Biography

Michael E. McHenry is a Professor Emeritus at Carnegie Mellon University, primarily focusing on soft magnetic nano-composites and their applications in power energy. His research includes field processing materials and analyzing structural magnetic properties influenced by magnetic and strain fields as well as temperature and frequency. He has directed significant projects such as the Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI) on high-temperature magnetic materials for aircraft power applications and has led the ARPA-E program on magnetic materials for power electronics. He has published over 350 papers, amassing 11,000 citations, and co-authored the book “Structure Materials” with Cambridge University Press in 2007.
