Biography

Michael E. McHenry is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. His research expertise lies in soft magnetic nano-composites for power energy applications. He has studied field processing of materials and their structural magnetic properties under varying conditions such as magnetic fields, strain, temperature, and frequency. In recognition of his contributions, he was named an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer in 2013 and received the TMS Award for Research Excellence in 2014. He has authored numerous publications, exceeding 350 with over 11,000 citations, and co-authored the book 'Structure Materials' published by Cambridge University Press. McHenry continues to be actively involved in advising on the scarcity of rare earth materials and has served in various prestigious roles within academic and professional societies.
